Pakistan Movement worker Fatima Sughra, who took down the British flag from the
civil secretariat (the Punjab Civil Secretariat Building in Lahore) during
independence movement in 1947 and replaced it with Muslim League flag, died in
Lahore on Sunday night. She was 86.
The government of Pakistan had
awarded her Life achievement Award and Pride of Performance Award for her
services for the country. She has left behind two sons and two daughters to
mourn her death.
