Kuwait City:
In response to the boycott of French products
in several Middle Eastern countries against the publication of blasphemous
sketches of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), counters of French goods were emptied
from shopping malls in Kuwait.
Images from Kuwait have been shared on social
networking sites showing the counters of 50 major shopping malls being emptied
that were previously filled with French goods. Photo-sharers wrote that French
goods were being boycotted because of the blasphemous sketches.
At
the moment, the social networking sites 'Boycott French Products' and 'Boycott
France' are trending hashtags.
The empty counters of French goods can be
seen in the photos shared with these trends. The boycott campaign was launched
in France against the publication of sketches of the Prophet of Islam in the
magazine Charlie Hebdo and the forced closure of a mosque.
The Organization of the Islamic Conference
(OIC) also condemned the hanging of sketches of the Prophet of Islam on some
buildings in France, saying it condemned the repeated attacks on the sentiments
of Muslims as part of a systematic plan.
It should be noted that passers-by were
attacked with a knife outside the old office of the controversial magazine
Charlie Hebdo, while a teacher who was showing a sketch of the Prophet of Islam
in a school in France was killed, followed by crackdown operations in several
areas.
