PTA bans TikTok over complaints against 'immoral content'

The PTA banned 'Tik Tok'

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has banned the video sharing app 'Tik Tok' across the country for not removing inappropriate content.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has released a letter on the social networking site Twitter banning the video sharing app 'Tik Tok', saying that the video sharing app has been criticized by various quarters across the country. Complaints were being received regarding inappropriate content on which the PTA has issued instructions to ban Tik-Tok.

According to a letter issued by PTA, the management of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has repeatedly asked the 'Tik Tok' administration to remove controversial and inappropriate content and issued instructions to them to remove inappropriate content. The video sharing app was also given time but failed to satisfy us.

The PTA said in a letter that the administration had also issued a final warning to Tik Tok to remove the controversial material, but had failed to comply with our instructions, which is why we are taking this step today. The video-sharing app 'Tik Tok' has been instructed to shut down across the country for not removing inappropriate content.

The PTA added that Tik Tok has informed the administration of its decision, but that the decision could be reconsidered if the video sharing app removes inappropriate content and follows our instructions.
