An operation has been launched in Qatar to strip-searched of foreign female passengers

Doha:

Qatar to investigate 'invasive' exams of women at Doha airport

Legal action has been initiated against the officials involved in the search of foreign women at Qatar International Airport.

According to the international news agency, after pressure and fierce protests from the Australian government, the Qatari government has started action against the airport security personnel who were accused of exposing foreign female passengers for naked search.

In addition, the Prime Minister of Qatar and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani has apologized to the affected women on behalf of his country and expressed regret over the action of the security personnel.

The Australian government had threatened not to serve Qatar Airways flights in Sydney after the incident at Hammad International Airport on October 2, while the UK and other countries had put pressure on the Qatari government.

A newborn baby was found unaccompanied on a flight to Qatar on October 2, after security officials at the airport searched more than a dozen women from Australia, Britain, New Zealand and other countries.

Immediately after the incident, the Qatari government called the abandonment a "murder attempt" and said legal action in such a situation included searching the underwear of female passengers.
