
Karachi:
Professional kickboxer national champion Muhammad Aslam Khan died
of a concussion during a bout.
During the fourth and final round of the professional fight for the
national title at the local club last night, Aslam Khan fell in the ring due to
a punch from rival boxer Wali Khan Tareen, injured his jaw and was knocked out
after withdrawing from the competition.
Mohammad Aslam was taken to a private hospital. Aslam,
who was in critical condition overnight, was kept on a ventilator till morning
but could not recover and died.
The fight for the heavyweight (plus 80kg) title was taking place under
the auspices of the Pakistan Professional Kickboxing Council. Muhammad Aslam,
34, is married and belongs to Pishin district in Balochistan, while his rival Wali
Khan Tareen also hails from Pishin.
